Subtitle files are processed in your browser
When you choose a subtitle file or paste subtitle text, the Service parses the text, applies selected technical and readability rules, displays findings, and creates CSV or self-contained HTML exports in your browser.
We do not intentionally send subtitle contents, pasted text, cue text, cue timings, custom thresholds, findings, or generated report contents to our application servers or analytics endpoint. They remain in browser memory while you use the tool and are cleared when you replace the input, reload, or close the page, subject to browser behavior. Local downloads remain under your browser and device settings.
The website still uses network connections to load code and assets. Browser-local subtitle processing is not a promise that website use is offline, anonymous, or free of ordinary delivery metadata.
Website delivery and security information
A host/CDN may process IP address, browser or device information, requested path, referrer, request date and time, response status, and security signals to deliver and protect the static site. This delivery metadata is separate from subtitle content, which the application does not intentionally transmit.
Optional analytics
Analytics is disabled by default and activates only when the reviewed build-time enable value is used. Even then, it sends nothing until you explicitly opt in. Rejecting or withdrawing consent leaves the complete checker available and causes zero analytics requests.
If enabled and accepted, analytics supports only seven content-free categories: tool opened, input selected, analysis started, analysis finished, analysis cancelled, export finished, and reset confirmed. Their properties are restricted to fixed enum values for input method, safely detected SRT or WebVTT format, default or modified profile state, coarse outcome and finding-count bucket, cancellation phase, export format/outcome, and reset kind.
Analytics denylist
Analytics does not include filenames or paths; subtitle, pasted, cue, header, speaker, sound-description, comment, or note content; sequence numbers, timecodes, timings, durations, gaps, CPS, WPM, line lengths, exact finding counts, exact thresholds, profile values, report or export contents; names, email addresses, company or contact data; account, payment, visitor, session, device, cross-site, fingerprint, or advertising identifiers; free text, raw errors, logs, browser query or fragment, page title, or referrer.
Analytics infrastructure metadata
If analytics is enabled and accepted, ordinary network metadata such as IP address, browser/user-agent, request date and time, destination, and the fixed sanitized checker route may be observable or processed by the self-hosted analytics infrastructure.
Cookies and local storage
Optional analytics sets no analytics or advertising cookies. It may persist only one first-party localStorage item, subtitlepreflight.analytics_consent, with the value accepted or rejected. It does not use sessionStorage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage, a service worker, analytics visitor/session/device IDs, fingerprints, replay, auto-capture, or cross-site identifiers.
Your analytics choices
Before any analytics request, you can opt in or reject. You can reopen Analytics choices from the footer. Withdrawal removes the stored choice and returns analytics to zero-network behavior. See Cookies and Analytics Choices for the complete choice and storage description.

Retention and disclosure
Subtitle content and results remain in page memory until input replacement, reload, or tab closure, subject to browser behavior. Local downloads remain until you remove them.
Security, rights, and international use
Browser-local processing reduces deliberate subtitle transmission but does not eliminate device, browser, network, extension, infrastructure, or local-download risks. No absolute security guarantee is made. Contact xma5@my.hpu.edu with privacy questions or requests.
Changes and contact
Material implementation or provider changes may require this policy to be updated with a revised effective date.
