These Terms are between you and 玄林, operator of Subtitle Preflight. Questions can be sent to xma5@my.hpu.edu.
The Service
Subtitle Preflight provides technical and readability findings under the implemented parser, selected profile, and thresholds shown. It does not compare subtitle text with audio or video, edit or generate subtitles, or determine transcription or translation accuracy, completeness, accessibility or legal conformance, or acceptance by a client, platform, broadcaster, or standards body.
Eligibility and authority
You must be legally able to agree to these Terms and have authority to use any subtitle material you select or paste.
Your material and permissions
You retain rights in your material. You are responsible for permissions, confidentiality, lawful handling, and deciding whether local exports may be shared.
Acceptable use
Do not use the Service unlawfully; interfere with operation; attempt unauthorized access; introduce malicious content; infringe rights; or represent findings as certification, official approval, or guaranteed acceptance.
Local exports and sharing
Exports are created for local download and may contain subtitle-derived details. Review files before sharing and apply the confidentiality and security controls required by your workflow.
No purchases or refunds in the baseline Service
The baseline Service has no checkout, payment, paid subscription, paid trial, or purchasable plan. Any Free, Pro, or Team language is a preview of possible future options and does not create an offer for sale. No refund process applies while no purchase is available.
Intellectual property and feedback
The Service interface, code, brand, and original documentation are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not transfer ownership. Feedback may be used to improve the Service without an obligation to implement it, subject to applicable law.
Third-party sources and names
Rule-source references and format names are descriptive. They do not imply affiliation, endorsement, certification, or acceptance by any standards body, client, platform, or broadcaster.
Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” 玄林 DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL IDENTIFY EVERY ERROR OR SATISFY ANY CLIENT, PLATFORM, ACCESSIBILITY, LEGAL, OR DELIVERY REQUIREMENT.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 玄林 AND ITS AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, BUSINESS, GOODWILL, CLIENT ACCEPTANCE, OR DELIVERY OPPORTUNITIES.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability will not exceed the greater of the amount paid for the Service during the preceding 12 months or USD $100. No amount is currently paid for the baseline Service.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless 玄林 and its affiliates from claims arising from unlawful use, your material, violation of these Terms, or violation of another person’s rights.
Changes and termination
We may update the Service or these Terms. Updates will use a revised effective date and any notice or consent required by law.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of China, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except mandatory consumer protections. Courts located in China will have exclusive jurisdiction unless applicable law requires otherwise.
General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the baseline agreement with 玄林. If a provision is unenforceable, remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce is not a waiver.
